The years of innocence
The times when saying yes was easy,
And had no undertones.
Years of saying things you want to,
With no one forcing you to not say so.
Times when people always want to please you,
Take you places, replace your braces,
When you always have your wish,
And you were allowed to call on Uncle Claus.
Fairy tales happened in your world
And no one called you a fool for it.
You trip over your shoelaces
And it puts a smile on faces.
The years when nothing made much sense
And you were never really busy.
You could speak in monotones
And your life could be danger prone,
While all so easy!
It was beautiful,
The child you were.
But it’s been hard,
The way you’ve grown.
But you won’t forget.
